A man has been found guilty of stabbing his estranged wife to death after she changed her Facebook relationship status to “single”.

According to the prosecution in the case in the UK,
“Richardson because enraged when Sarah changed her marital status on Facebook to single and decided to go and see her as she was not responding to his messages.”
After breaking into her home, Edward Richardson (41) carried out a “frenzied and brutal” attack on the 26 year old.
The couple had split up around three weeks before Sarah Richardson was killed, clearly the initial split had nothing to do with Facebook.

Sounds like this is a story about a deranged husband that has (somehow) become a story about Facebook and social media. The way the headline reads, Facebook-mania is somehow culpable. In fact, the couple were already estranged (for what must now seem like good reasons.)
This is a sad story that – I’m afraid – has happened many times before and will happen many times in the future. But all over the web, people will pick up this particular story and run w/ it because of that word “Facebook” — that (and not the fact that a man married and then killed a woman almost young enough to be his daughter.
I don’t believe it has anything to do with fb.
Hmm looks to me like he was showing signs of violent behaviour before hand. Maybe that’s why she split with him. She then changed her status to single because she honestly didn’t want to be associated with him any more.
He then got enraged and jealous and killed her. He is the one who has no control over his emotions. Facebook has nothing to do with it.
Couldn’t she have blocked that guy on FB so he couldn’t have seen her status or profile?
That is so messed up. She should have given more than 3 weeks before changing her status to single. She kind of deserved it if you ask me.
