It’s always painful to read about job cuts at U.S. newspapers. But the news became even more painful when I spotted mashup Paper Cuts. This mashup shows how many layoffs and buyouts U.S. newspapers have to suffer from. According to Paper Cuts more than 13.748 people in the newspaper industry lost their job in 2008. And new layoffs and buyouts are reported almost every week…

Who is going to make a European (or just International!) version?

If you go to the site, you can zoom in to specific newspapers on the U.S. map. That should show more detail, and links to the stories.
Really useful and confronting data visualisation. I’d like to help developing a European version, who wants to join?
If you make a European version I hope you make it expandable. The one for the U.S. is so small that you really cannot tell what is going on where.
