Seven years from now The Netherlands will be covered in a web of fiber-to-the-home network thanks to KPN and FTTH operator Reggefiber (according to deVerdieping Trouw).
Of course, the cost isn’t small: about 5-7 billion euros needs to be thrown at the task
KPN and Reggefiber setup a joint venture (KPN wants a 41% stake in Reggefiber) which has to be approved by the authorities.
The places where the fiber cannot reach will be covered by wi-fi network access.

Ah, what a nice day it’ll be when my fiber-connection will tranfer its first bits and bytes :)
Hopefully some other delaying factors will be taken care of as well. DNS-resolving is already one of the major delays I’m experiencing on ADSL. In the coming 7 years better Content Distrubtion Networks will probably be available to lots of sites, so even trans-atlantic sites will load considerably faster. Gladly Amazon is taken up this, normally difficult, job for all the smaller sites out there.
Come to think of it, on what connection speed will they cap it?
