December 2011 was the busiest ever month for UK search

According to the latest report from Experian Hitwise UK search is growing and continues as the biggest source of traffic to websites.

James Murray, Marketing and Research analyst for the company has created a handy infographic illustrating the UK habits and reveals that Yahoo! and Bing both beat Google when it comes to the percentage of clicks leading to transactional websites.

9 out of 10 searches are still conducted via Google and 174 million more visits were made to search engines in February 2012 in comparison with February 2011.

One in every five searches takes us to a retail website, a good reminder to make sure your site is properly indexed.

The most searched for term? Facebook. Which would point to something amiss in the social networking giant’s own service for stalking friends and foes.

Does anyone remember any URL anymore or have those web addresses already gone the way of phone numbers?
