Twitter won’t let you play MS-DOS games embedded in tweets any more, possibly hates all fun

The news that you could play MS-DOS games on Twitter simply by embedding a URL from the Internet Archive’s MS-DOS library in a tweet seemed like a fun way to spend a few minutes and relive some of the old classics.

Twitter, however, had a different response. Some four days after the news broke, the Guardian now reports that the feature has been disabled for breaching the company’s official Twitter Card rules.

Other companies, like Google, embrace easter eggs (like letting you play Pac-Man in Google Maps) and while Twitter’s users do cool things like make Choose Your Own Adventure puzzles, I’m beginning to wonder if Twitter really just hates all fun.

I suppose having $8 billion wiped off its value as the result of a single tweet could have left the company in a bit of a humourless mood.
