The role of AI in building an inclusive company
Tuesday, July 28, 2020
As the use of AI becomes increasingly common, both in the tools that we use and in the products we build ourselves, it's important to take a look at the role and impact of AI in the context of diversity and inclusion.
To build a truly diverse and inclusive company, D&I values must be engrained into every aspect of a company, both internally and externally. Unfortunately we don't have time to address every aspect in this session, so we'll be having a look at the role of AI in one key internal aspect - recruitment - and one key external aspect - product development. How can AI help or hinder your efforts to build a diverse and inclusive company?
As we explore this topic, we'll start of with two short talks from Raisa Ghazi, Founder of Skill Genie, and Stephane Mead, Global Industry Manager at Google.
Stephane's talk will look at inclusivity in product development and will cover:
- What does DEI in AI/ML mean?
- Why is it important (e.g. bias in product development, unintended consequences, impact on community)?
- How does Google think about and address the concept of AI/ML Fairness?
- What tools or resources are available for organizations to use in their own efforts?
Raisa's talk look at inclusive recruitment and will cover:
- The advantages of using AI/technology in recruitment
- Technologies/ AI in recruitment that don’t promote D&I
- Technologies/ AI in recruitment that do promote D&I
- Tips on how to spot biased AI/technologies
Following the two talks, we'll open up for Q&A and discussion with the audience. Join us on 28th for this interesting discussion!
Note: this event will be held online.
