Panel discussion on inclusive leadership

On April 14th, Raisa Ghazi will moderate a panel discussion on how to lead the conversation on inclusion and how to avoid those awkward silences. Shea Harty and Etienne Forbes - who both have experience in and passion for creating inclusive work environments - will join her in discussing:
- How to test your own bias
- Best practices for diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace
- Inclusive recruitment
- Cultivating skills for a bias-free mindset

Speakers
- Raisa Ghazi is an entrepreneurial spirit who brings her action plan for more Diversity & Inclusion everywhere where she goes. She first studied business, then found her love for the equal distribution of power during her political science studies. Her experience in striving for equality ranges from organizing political debates in de Balie Amsterdam (Alleen maar Witte Politici), running associations who aim to increase diversity in the cultural domain, and IT initiatives aimed at getting more minorities into tech. She’s always on the hunt for ways to improve herself, her businesses, or the world.
- Shea Harty is one of the founders of the social enterprise Empowerment.work, which helps professionals and leaders empower in their work environments and careers. Empower Amsterdam is the non-profit they support which helps unemployed international professionals who feel stuck in their job search. She also manages the Women in Tech Regatta Amsterdam, a boutique conference that helps women in the tech industry connect, support, and inspire each other. Through this conference, conversations around diversity and allyship encourage all intersectional people in tech to bring their full selves to work. Shea has worked in human resources for over 15 years in HR information systems, talent management, recruitment, and internal communications. She has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising as well as a Juris Doctorate in US Law. She is originally from New York and now resides in Amsterdam with her family.
- Etienne Forbes is currently working in Talent Development at Waldom Electronics EMEA and serving as their Diversity and Inclusion Officer. He has a strong passion for learning, new experiences, and new challenges. Prior to his current role, he has worked in a variety of sectors including government, higher education, advertising, electronics, and television; for companies large and small. These experiences inform his approach towards creating work environments that are inclusive for all. Etienne is an avid reader, enjoys photography, and is currently trying to convince himself to enjoy going to the gym.
