VAT is one of the things that you won’t like to think about, however, when you start a business and when businesses grow (internationally), one of the first taxes that becomes important is VAT. Ugurcan Boy and Lisanne Görts (VAT specialists at KPMG Meijburg & Co) will give an introduction to the wonderful world of VAT.
Ugurcan and Lisanne will touch base on:
- The principles of EU VAT and Dutch VAT
- How to deal with cross-border supplies
- How to calculate the right to deduct input VAT
- Explain how a Dutch VAT return works
Ugurcan has studied Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam and Tax Law (indirect tax) at VU University. He joined KPMG Meijburg & Co in Amstelveen as of 2015 and he assists a broad range of clients such as fashion brands, insurers and pension funds with their VAT questions and assists on M&A deals. Since 2017 he also assists our TNW residents with their VAT questions. In his spare this king of the kitchen likes to host (vegan) dinner parties for friends & family.
Lisanne has finished her studies in Tax Law (indirect tax) at Maastricht University. She joined KPMG Meijburg & Co in 2020 and is working as an indirect tax specialist in the Amstelveen office. She has assisted in multiple VAT-related advisory/compliance projects for clients operating in a broad variety of industries (amongst others in the e-commerce and consumer market industry). As her roots are ‘’down the rivers’’ (as we would say in Dutch), she likes visiting Maastricht to enjoy food & drinks on the terrace (and to celebrate a little Carnival ).
