Crowdsourced video by Michael Jackson fans: “Don’t stop til you get enough”

Crowdsourced video by Michael Jackson fans: “Don’t stop til you get enough”

The King of Pop may be 6 feet under, but his legacy will live on forever. New from the Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony Music is the “Behind The Mask” video project, which seeks to crowdsource the artistic contributions of Michael Jackson fans around the world.

The project will provide MJ fans with the opportunity to help create a unique, crowdsourced groundbreaking music video for the single “Behind the Mask”. Led by the creative team at Radical Media including director Dennis Liu, interested participants should visit this website, which defines the different ways users can participate in the project.

Users can select a move, a lyric or a crowd reaction or demonstrate their own moonwalk, the anti-gravity lean or the toe stand. Using the site’s split-screen template, contributors can shoot their move right on the website with their web cam or by using a video camera and uploading their clip.

Liu will then select the top clips and weave them into the historical work of Michael Jackson’s video. The final results of The Behind the Mask Project will be unveiled the first week in April. I’m not entirely sure how the production will play out, but if you can moon walk, check it out!

Participation starts here on March 7, 2011.
