Bring on the nostalgia with this in-browser Winamp emulator

For those that grew up during the dot com boom, chances are you’re already familiar with Winamp. Our favorite music player, back before we figured out there were better options, is now available as an emulated walk down memory lane capable of running in any modern browser.

Users can toy around with skins by dragging them onto the browser window, or even add their own mp3s the same way — if you, uh, still have mp3s. And hopefully you do; the only default sound bite has something to do with “whippin’ a llama’s ass” and runs all of five seconds.

So, load up a — hopefully non-pirated this time — mp3 of period-appropriate music like Sugar Ray, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, or Ricky Martin and remember what it was like in the days before Spotify and Apple Music.

Unfortunately, the one thing that doesn’t seem to work is the ability to add plugins. It’s not perfect, but we’ll take it.
