With a whopping half a million lights, this man gets an early Christmas gift: a world record

Christmas has never shone so brightly for anyone before. An Australian lawyer has just strung up a whopping 502,165 Christmas lights, reclaiming the Guinness World Record for the most lights on a residential property.

David Richards and his wife Janean previously held the record in 2011 with 331,038 lights, but saw their title taken the next year by the Gay family of LaGrangeville, New York, who put up 346, 283 lights.

The display includes more than 50 kilometers of LED string lights through a 50-meter walk-through canopy and an 18-meter light-controlled tree (all which come with synchronized music as well).
