Zynga partners with the NFL and Tiger Woods to tackle sports games

Zynga partners with the NFL and Tiger Woods to tackle sports games

Zynga has announced a new sub-brand, Zynga Sports 365, that will publish sports-themed games in partnership with the National Football League and golf legend Tiger Woods.

NFL Showdown is launching today as the first game from the new brand, but it’s currently only available in a few regions (and the company’s own preview link returns an error). The title is a mobile simulation game that lets you own, manage and coach a team. A partnership with the NFL Players Association ensures that the game includes real athletes and teams. A full global launch is planned before the NFL season kicks off next month.

Zynga also said it will release its social Tiger Woods golf game in 2015.

In addition to the new sports initiative, Zynga revealed that it’s working with Warner Bros. to release a Looney Tunes endless runner game on mobile by the end of this year.

The announcements came as part of the company’s disappointing second quarter earnings report today. Zynga’s stock is down 9 percent in after-hours trading.
