Remember flying a kite as a child in a park on a windy day? I bet you never flew a kite like this before. “Little Shining Man”, a kite with 1,700 3D printed connectors, carbon fibre rods and cubenfibre aerospace fabric is one of the most beautiful, ethereal pieces of functional art I’ve ever seen.
The project was conceived by Heather Peak and Ivan Morison, designed by Sash Reading and engineered and fabricated by Queen & Crawford. It was commissioned by Dandara Ltd for the Chart Room, in Castle Quay, UK. Photography by Matt Porteous.
