There are only a handful of us in existence that could justify plopping down $10,000 on a solid state drive (SSD) — even if that drive offers blazing fast speeds and a whopping 15 terabytes (TB) of storage. Justification, however, is irrelevant when it comes to forking over enough money to buy a used Honda Accord in order to beef up your storage.
The 15TB drive (actually 15.36, but who’s counting?), uses 16 Samsung chips to create a 512GB package. It then takes 32 of those packages and crams them together to create the larger of the two PM1633a SSDs. The drive is also available in a puny (by comparison) 7TB version.
Of course, it might make more sense just to buy four of Samsung’s new 4TB SSDs at $1,500 each (a total of $6,000) to save some money, but we get it, bigger is better. Treat yourself.
