HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley’ is back, and this time, you can catch a free episode for free on Twitch.
HBO has partnered with the Amazon-owned streaming service to air an exclusive clip from the new season on April 8 – four days ahead of its official return on the network. Then, it will stream the pilot episode of the hit comedy show in its entirety.
That’s not all HBO has in store. Prior to the Twitch premiere, the show’s cast members will also host a live Q&A session and play some video games with Jon Carnage, Twitch’s live programming director.
Thomas Middleditch, who plays the show’s bumbling protagonist Richard, is a Twitch streamer as well. Earlier this month, Middleditch livestreamed 4.5 hours of him playing turn-based strategy game Total War, earning mad props from IRL nerds on the Web.

“There is an authentic connection between ‘Silicon Valley’ and the Twitch audience, and this unique event is a great way to build upon that,” Sabrina Caluori, HBO’s VP of digital and social media, said in a statement. “Twitch offers a unique opportunity to provide exclusive content and a highly social experience to this influential community.”
You can catch the ‘Silicon Valley’ cast at Twitch on April 8 at 12 p.m. PT at twitch.tv/twitch, followed by a free episode from season one.
To watch the rest of the season, however, you can access HBO via several new outlets, including HBO Now, an exclusive partnership with Apple TV, or HBO on Sling TV. Any of those options will cost you $15 a month, but won’t require a cable subscription.
Editor’s note: In our initial post, we reported that HBO will air the season 2 premiere on Twitch. Twitch has followed up to clarify that it will premiere an exclusive clip, not the full episode. We apologize for the error.
