Yelp launches new version of SeatMe that lets ‘nightlife’ businesses accept online bookings for free

Yelp has launched a tool for restaurants, bars and other businesses in the nightlife category which allows them to accept online reservations for free.

Announced today, Yelp Reservations is a free version of its SeatMe product, and is currently only available in the US, the UK and Ireland. However, a spokesperson for the company said it could be expanded to more regions “later on”.

In order to use it, companies will need a Yelp Business Account. Once a booking is confirmed, the system will send out a reminder email to the person who booked six hours before the reservation time, as well as following up with an SMS an hour before. Yelp said it is also providing a free widget for businesses to add to their own websites to encourage more reservations.
