Wuaki.tv launches Android and iPad apps for its on-demand TV and movie streaming service in the UK

Wuaki.tv, the Rakuten-owned streaming service for movies and TV shows, has launched new apps today for iPad and Android users in the UK.

The platform is rather unique in that users can choose to access unlimited streaming with a monthly subscription, or rent and purchase titles individually akin to iTunes or Vdio.

Wuaki.tv landed in the UK last month, but only supported streaming on the Mac and PC. Mobile apps are a good start, but to have any chance of competing with Netflix and LoveFilm Instant the company will need to support the iPhone, smart TVs and video game consoles rather sharpish.
