With 10m users, real-time location sharing service Glympse adds support for four new languages

Real-time location sharing service Glympse has hit the 10 million user milestone and today added four new languages to better support its global community. Both its iOS and Android apps will be optimized for Chinese, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

Seeing that approximately 40 percent of its user base is from outside the United States, Glympse thought it was prudent to make sure that its service was as usable to that demographic as possible. But it doesn’t plan on stopping there as French, Italian, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese are in the works to be released in “the near future.”

Company co-founder and CEO Bryan Trussel says that localized version have been one of the most requested features.

Users don’t need to tweak anything in the app to activate any of the new languages. It’s all set based on the device’s preference.

The release of new languages comes also several months after Glympse opened up its API, giving third-party developers the ability to tap into its location tracking service. Now, developers could potentially be able to utilize the multiple languages to their advantage.

Glympse is a location-sharing application whereby that information can be passed along to friends or co-workers so they’ll know exactly where you are and when you’ll get there. Everything is temporary so you won’t have to worry about someone continuously knowing when you’re home, where you are, and whatnot. It’s also a private service so it’s not blasted out there on Twitter (unless you want it to be).

The service is available on iOS and Android devices, along with Garmin productsFord SYNC AppLink, and on BMW and MINI Connected vehicles.
