Yesterday, it was widely reported that the Winklevoss twins, in deciding to drop the Supreme Court case, were done with the Facebook legal battle for good.
But that’s not the case. They’re now looking to have a judge investigate whether any information or evidence was suppressed by Facebook during earlier encounters in a Boston court. Specifically, they’re referring to instant messages the plaintiffs believe Facebook lawyers had hidden.
The conflict stems from the Winklevosses claims that Zuckerberg, when hired to build ConnectU, sabotaged the project he was being paid to build while building Facebook in secret. Business partner Divya Narendra is also a plaintiff, though not as famous as the Olympic rowing duo.
The Winklevoss twins have continued to pursue the matter despite a $65 million settlement that, as a mixture of cash and stock, is now bound to be worth much more.
If I were a lawyer, I’d love to have the Winklevosses for clients — it seems like their lawyer is the only one getting rich out of the protracted kerfuffle.
