Wikipedia’s Android app updated for a better reading experience

Wikipedia’s Android app has a makeover for its latest update, with a simpler, more immersive readeing experience.

The updated app features images more prominently. Articles now feature a contextual header image and tapping other pictures displays them in a pop-up with a caption. Tapping again hides the information for an unobscured view.

You’ll also find links to related articles in the ‘Read More’ section at the end of each page. The search feature has been improved and now includes a list of recently searched topics.

While this is a limited update, it improves the app’s usability and makes it feel a bit more modern. The developers say an iOS app update should be released soon.
