Who copies who? Samsung store display re-uses Apple icons

Who copies who? Samsung store display re-uses Apple icons

Samsung is currently engaged in a massive legal battle with Apple over which company has been stealing the other’s designs for phones and tablets. That’s why this image, discovered by John Paczkowski of All Things D, is so ironic.

It’s a store display in the Centro Sicilia store in Catania, Italy that re-uses the artwork for several different iOS apps, including Apple’s own App Store. This is some pretty brazen stuff here and things like this won’t do much to help Samsung’s case.

Since this location is a ‘store within a store’ it is possible that Samsung is not responsible for the display, but it very much seems like they are endorsing it with the branding positioned the way it is.

Apple has famously stated that Samsung has ‘slavishly’ copied the designs of Apple’s iPhone and iPad products.

Samsung is currently pursuing many legal actions against Apple worldwide, including a patent suit that it filed against Apple in the Netherlands just yesterday. Samsung and Apple are currently involved in 22 different legal actions against one another world wide.
