The WHATWG (Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group) today published an edition of the HTML5 specification for web developers, compiled by Melbourne, Australia developer Ben Schwarz.

The developer’s edition is intended to be more readable than the official specification so that developers can find the information they need more quickly, and removes information that’s only relevant to browser developers.

The WHATWG was founded in 2004 by Apple, the Mozilla Foundation and Opera Software. The three organizations became disgruntled with the way the W3C was handling the development of XHTML and splintered off to form the group that would begin work on HTML5.
