Waze, the Israeli mobile satellite navigation startup, has done a deal with ABC’s local channel in Los Angeles that will help motorists find the best routes through congestion. Not only have they grown their user base to nearly 5 million members, the partnership means Waze will be the primary source for traffic news across LA.
The 2009-founded Waze uses satellite signals from members’ smartphones to generate maps and traffic data, which it then shares with other users. The quality of data improves as more drivers join the network and use it.
I sat down with Waze’s Head of Marketing Michal Roman Habdank-Kolaczkowski to talk about the deal and how Waze is driving forward.
