I’m pretty sure this is what zen feels like. I’m not arguing we should go back to cassette tapes, but after watching them get made I’m semi-certain this trance-inducing process is how Buddhists find nirvana.
The electronic soundtrack and excellent camera work add to the excitement of the experience. As the music builds to a crescendo, and the camera cuts from one part of the process to another, I’m left with the feeling that something truly magical is happening. It’s not, of course, it’s just a shitty cassette tape. But that doesn’t make me any less grateful for the ability to see how the sausage is made, so to speak.
