Watch Apple make more in seconds than you do in a year

Watch Apple make more in seconds than you do in a year

Every quarter, we sit in awe as Apple rakes in money hand over fist. Now you sit and weep as you watch how much it makes every second of the day.

A site named Every Second lets you peer into how Apple is doing every time a clock ticks. It doesn’t have access to internal sales figures or anything — it’s really just reverse engineered based on info gleaned from earnings calls and other public info.

Still, it’s as depressing as it is amazing. In the time it took me to get from the first word in this article to this point, Apple sold about 500 phones and had $450,000 in revenue.

According to the Department of Numbers, the average household income in 2014 (the last stats it has on the topic) was around $53,000. Apple makes that in about nine seconds flat.

If it’s even close to accurate (and there’s no reason to doubt it is), Every Second has some cool statistics if you can see through your tears. It tracks things like Apple Store visitors, Apple Pay revenue generated and how many iMessages were sent.

We were already impressed by Apple, but this takes it to another level.
