Visual bookmarks service Zootool launches Pro accounts – and the price is up to you

Visual bookmarks service Zootool launches Pro accounts – and the price is up to you

Zootool is a ‘visual bookmarking’ service that lets you gather text, video and image bookmarks from your web browsing – perfect for designers or anyone else who wants to keep a virtual scrapbook of visual inspiration. We recently covered the launch of its iPhone app and now it’s rolling out paid-for Pro accounts.

There’s a twist though – you decide how much you want to pay. Yes, from $1 per year to $100 per year, you choose how much the service is worth to you.

The Zotool team has laid on a great bunch of features for the pro accounts:

  • Bookmarking via Email.
  • Auto-import links shared on Facebook, Twitter, plus favorites and ‘likes’ from Flickr, Dribbble and Vimeo.
  • Export to Instapaper.
  • Public Packs – Pro users can share their favorite ‘packs’ of content with friends and other Zootool users. This turns it from a service offering purely private collections to curated, shareable groups of whatever you like – videos, typography, photography, or anything else visual.
  • Unlimited packs – free accounts are limited to 20.
  • No ads.

Opting for a sliding scale, ‘choose your own price’ model is a risky option – what if everyone chooses to pay $1 for a year? It’s a safe bet that many of the users of Zootool are a discerning bunch who appreciate good quality products and don’t mind paying a fair price for them. It will certainly be interesting to hear what the average price users opt for ends up being.
