While all of the numbers aren’t in yet, IDG reports in this video that China Unicom says that 50,000 customers pre-ordered the iPhone 4 (no contract) and that over 1,000 people lined up outside of the Beijing Apple Store to get the phone.

Of course, as this is China, the iPhone 4 has been available on the grey market since soon after its US launch, but the relatively short wait for the official launch of the latest iPhone – along with slightly cheaper prices than earlier versions – probably was enough for many Chinese to simply wait out the three months and pre-order/line up at the Apple Store.
