Viddy, a popular video sharing platform, has decided to use its platform for Social Good in November. The company is helping to raise money to beat men’s cancer during the popular Movember mustache growing month-long event.
The site boasts over 850k users, and thinks it can harness the energy behind its video sharing community towards raising money for cancer awareness and treatment.
If you haven’t heard about Movember, here is a bit of a background on the campaign:
On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.
Evan White, head of marketing at Viddy says this about its Movember efforts:
So far our 29 Mo bros have raised $271 in an effort to end male cancer, but our goals are much higher than that! I’d personally like to see our team raise over $10,000, and I think we can do it!
To participate, all you have to do is sign up for the Viddy Movember team, upload videos, and spread the word to help donate money.
