VEVO partners with Virgin America for a specially produced in flight channel

VEVO partners with Virgin America for a specially produced in flight channel

Music fans rejoice, getting on a flight no longer means missing seeing your favourite videos as VEVO has just buddied up with Virgin America.

The partnership means that there will be a Virgin Produced Channel with VEVO music videos and original programming as part of the in-flight entertainment system from Virgin known as ‘Red’.

The programming will include a 30 minute block of high-definition music videos, VEVO Originals and other entertainment. Customers of Virgin America can currently watch music videos from artistes including Katy Perry, Coldplay, Rihanna, will.i.am, Graffiti6 and David Guetta as well as an episode from the VEVO Go Shows series.

Each block of programming will feature a unique, music-infused program titled VEVO Sound + City which takes Virgin Produced Channel viewers on a musical tour of one of Virgin America’s destinations. The city of San Francisco will be the first destination city featured on the Channel.

Virgin TV at 30,000 feet

The Virgin Produced channel first arrived onboard Virgin America planes in April and there are plans to expand into its own network of channels providing more content specifically aimed at the brand’s fans on all of Virgin’s transportation, mobile, health clubs, hotels and retail assets. An interesting method for expanding its broadcasting portfolio.

As you may know, VEVO is the premium music video and entertainment platform with offices in New York, London, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and San Francisco. Chances are if you have been watching an official popular music video on YouTube, it will have been through VEVO.

VEVO is available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil through VEVO.com, the mobile web, Mobile and Tablet Apps (iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry Playbook), Connected Television (Xbox, Boxee) and user embeddable video players.

Along with its own channels, VEVO powers music videos on artist pages across Facebook, as well as syndicates to dozens of online sites, including AOL, BET, CBS Interactive Music Group (including Last.fm and MP3.com), Fuse.tv, Univision, Viacom Media Networks and Yahoo! Music.

Virgin Produced serves as the film and television development, packaging and production arm of the Virgin Group. It is led by co-founders CEO Jason Felts and Chief Creative Officer Justin Berfield.
