If you’re an old Verizon customer with a grandfathered unlimited plan, I have some bad news for you: your bill is about to get more expensive.
According to a report by The Verge, Verizon will soon start charging users and additional $20 on old unlimited plans (it doesn’t offer those anymore, but some users never switched to a new one). The total unlimited data charge will now be $59 on top of your voice and text costs.
That said, Verizon is adding one benefit; grandfathered customers can now buy phones using monthly payment installments – previously, they were forced into paying the entire retail price.
Verizon says less than one percent of customers still use unlimited data, and that the price hike won’t affect corporate or government accounts.
