It’s been over a year since Sony sold its VAIO PC brand to investment firm Japan Industrial Partners. The company has just launched its first smartphone, cleverly named the VAIO Phone.
The 4G device is available from Japanese carrier B-mobile. It runs Android Lollipop and features a 5-inch 720p display, as well as a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM.
There’s also a 2,500 mAh battery that promises 800 minutes of talk-time, 16GB of onboard storage and a MicroSD slot for 64GB more. The 13-megapixel rear camera is complemented by a 5-megapixel shooter in front.
With those specs and the plain body design, it’s no flagship killer. However, it should be able to offer smooth performance in everyday use.
The VAIO smartphone will sell for just $33 (4,000 Yen) with unlimited data plans from B-mobile in Japan.
