Upcoming Events For Australian Web Developers / Tech Startups

Upcoming Events For Australian Web Developers / Tech Startups

There are quite a few interesting events coming up for tech entrepreneurs, designers and coders, that will help make the cold winter months a little more tolerable. Below are a few of the good ones, based on past experience.

Check it out:

  • Tech23 is a TechCrunch50 style event held in Sydney. The event has 23 startups pitching to a room full of investors/startups/industry people and a demo floor with 25 booths for other participants. The event is on August 19th but applications to be part close on 30 June. Oh – there’s 150K in prizes too, so be sure to get your entry in on time if you’re keen.

  • Australian Web Awards – Run by the Perth-based Australian Web Industry Association, the Australian Web Awards (and their predecessor the WA Web Awards) have been a leading light in the recognition of top Australian websites since 2005. There are a bunch of categories to nominate your site, or a site you like, in. Note that entries close on July 8th.

  • Google DevFest AU – This week-long series of mini-conferences on Google technology is happening from June 28th-July 2nd in the Google Sydney office. Every day has a different focus (i.e. Wave, Apps, Chrome, Social and Geo) and Pamela Fox and the Google Developer Relations team have put together a good list of local and international speakers. Registration is free but spaces are limited.
