Typekit adds more Adobe fonts, better Chaparral Pro support

Typekit today added more Adobe fonts to its library and expanded support for Chaparral Pro with new optical styles.

The new typefaces are Utopia, Poetica, OCR-A, and OCR-B. The OCR fonts are your typical machine-readable fonts without much going for them in the way of aesthetics, but Utopia is worth checking out — it’s a fantastic traditional serif. The image below features Utopia in the first three lines and Poetica in the bottom line.

The classic Chaparral is a popular choice as a playful slab, and it’s good to see it getting more attention. This update introduces Display, Subhead, Normal and Caption optical styles, enabling designers to create layouts that draw on variants of the font optimized for each role.
