Yahoo today announced it has rebranded and relaunched Lexity as Yahoo Commerce Central. The company is calling the new service “your one-stop shop for simple, affordable, and effective tools for your store.”

Yahoo acquired ecommerce app platform startup Lexity at the end of July. The company claimed it would keep all of Lexity’s products and services, and so far it is keeping that promise.

Here’s Yahoo’s pitch:

With Commerce Central, small business owners will now have access to a one-stop location to get powerful and easy-to-use tools and apps capable of providing easily actionable insights, generating new customers, increasing conversion, and improving processes that can help increase sales, efficiency, and profitability. These tools – provided through an easy-to-navigate App Gallery – can be incorporated into a merchant’s store without complex coding or developer support, which allows users to spend more time running their business rather than focusing on the technical implementation details.

Founded just four years ago by former Yahoo employee Amit Kumar, Lexity (previously known as Vurve) marketed itself as offering multiple ecommerce services for small- and medium-sized businesses. It had its own app store for online retailers and served “tens of thousands of customers” in 114 countries.

The best part is of course the free Live Insights app, which lets merchants:

  • Get real-time customer tracking and access to personalized marketing recommendations to help improve traffic and sales.
  • Interact in real-time with visitors to help increase customer satisfaction by answering questions and providing product recommendations.
  • Find top keywords, referring sites, where sales are coming from, store’s growth and seasonality, and more.
  • Gain insight from recommendations based on data and industry benchmarks to highlight new opportunities, and areas where there is room for further improvement and growth.

Yahoo Commerce Central is available to all Yahoo Merchant Solutions customers, as well as customers on more than 30 other e-commerce platforms that Lexity supported. Big names include Shopify, Magento, and BigCommerce.
