Twitter promises better tools to 400,000 volunteer translators, launches Swedish

Twitter has today reported that it has 400,000 volunteers working on translating the service into other languages. This crowd-sourced translation has allowed them to offer Twitter in 21 languages including today’s new language:  Swedish.

Twitter is continuing to work on making the jobs of these translators easier by improving the Translation Center.

“Expect to see further improvements to the Translation Center in the coming year,” says Twitter, “including new translation tools and more opportunities to help make Twitter accessible to every person on the planet.”

Twitter uses the translation center at translate.twttr.com to coordinate the efforts to translate the service, so you can head over there if you’re interested in volunteering your linguistic skills.
