Twitter looks back on 2014

It’s certainly been an eventful year, and social media users took full advantage of platforms to chronicle every happening in 2014. On its #YearInReview microsite, Twitter highlights the most memorable moments of the year gone by, in tweets.

There’s a lot to explore in 140 characters through the past 11 months: from celebrities like Robert Downey Jr. and Garth Brooks making their Twitter debuts, to the gorgeous celebratory proceedings at the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in February, to Bradley Cooper’s infamous star-studded selfie at the Oscars in March.

You’ll also spot the action from the soccer World Cup in Brazil in May, Samuel L Jackson sharing his view from the royal box at Wimbledon in July, the loss of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in Ukraine, the global mourning for the late Robin Williams, and the protests for elections in Hong Kong in September.

Additionally, the Perspectives section encapsulates major influencers’ favorite moments from the year, as well as five Twitter must-follow accounts they recommend. Head there to see what JK Rowling, Aaron Paul, Lady Gaga, Sachin Tendulkar and others shared through 2014.

You can review the year yourself over at the microsite, which is now live.
