Twitter expands its TV conversation targeting tool, giving advertisers more viewers to connect with

Many of us live tweet while watching our favorite TV shows. Twitter is hoping to capitalize on that engagement with a broader roll-out of its ‘TV conversation targeting’ tool, which allows networks and brands to target viewers with Promoted Tweets.

Starting today, the advertising tool will support Twitter users in Brazil, Canada, France and Spain. So when locals tune into the 2014 FIFA World Cup this summer, for example, Twitter advertisers will be able to reach them and ultimately sell products with coordinated tweets. TV conversation targeting was launched in the US and UK last November; Twitter says it’s now beta testing the tool in Argentina, Australia, Germany, Italy, Japan and Mexico. Austria and Ireland will be added to its beta roster in the coming weeks.
