Twitch now replays with chat, so you can feel a part of the action

The cool thing about livestreaming platform Twitch is that, if you want, you can relive the action of a given stream on a broadcaster’s channel. But in replaying  a stream, there was a lack of a huge component to Twitch’s overall experience: the chat.

The platform has now changed that in a new blog post, announcing that it will be rolling out “Chat Replay” within the coming weeks:

Never again will you wonder which moments had the chat going wild or what messages your favorite broadcaster is responding to. With Chat Replay, you can fully immerse yourself in the Twitch viewing experience and relive the best moments from broadcasts exactly as they happened live.

If you’re familiar with Twitch, you know exactly how much the community and the chat play a big role the livestream experience. Now, although those who replay the video won’t be able to participate in chat, they will see how the chat responds to livestreams. This is also especially crucial for involvement games like Choice Chamber, or if you decide to replay one of the old ‘Twitch Plays’ series installments.

Bans and moderated comments will not show up in the replayed chat, and it appears that chat will be captured for new videos starting today — don’t expect Twitch to resurrect long-gone chats from the ether.
