Twitch brings video-on-demand game content to its iOS and Android apps

Twitch brings video-on-demand game content to its iOS and Android apps

Twitch users can watch more content on the go as Video on Demand (VOD) is now available for mobile devices.

On-demand content is found via the activity feed on any channel. So long as the channel owner has made HTTP live streaming available for their content, you can see past videos on a smartphone or tablet.

Twitch also notes VOD content is available via the in-app search page, where tapping any offline channel will take you directly to an activity feed. Content like game play and Twitch Weekly can be viewed on-demand.

In addition to mobile VOD content, Twitch is asking Android users to upload an entirely new app. Due to a security vulnerability, an entirely new Twitch Android app has been made available via Google Play. Updating the legacy app won’t fix the security flaw.

When asked what security issues cause Twitch to recreate their Android app, a company spokesperson would only say “we are simply making our app more secure.”
