Twine partners with Pebble to send real-time alerts to your smartwatch

Twine partners with Pebble to send real-time alerts to your smartwatch

The Pebble smartwatch is probably the hottest thing to come out of Kickstarter yet, topping $10M in pledges and selling all of its 85,000 watches. The first batch of watches are set to ship in September and the company is already building partnerships with other devices.

Its second partnership has been announced today and it’s an interesting one to say the least. Twine, a device that allows you to monitor things from afar and send alerts to you about it. The device also got its start on Kickstarter.

Here’s what Twine had to say about the partnership:

We’re pleased to announce that Twine will talk to the Pebble smartwatch. In Twine’s web app, you’ll be able to relay word of real-world events, like a basement flooding or a door opening, to the Pebble on your wrist. Welcome to the future!

Eric and the rest of the Pebble people are true gentlemen, and we’re happy to be working together to make your world even more connected. This idea got rolling when Nathan, a backer of both our projects, made the suggestion. And we expect that once again, you’ll come up with more great ideas that will surprise us!

Imagine setting up your Twine device to alert you when it’s above 70 degrees in your house. Once Twine kicks off the alert, your Pebble smartwatch would light up and you could take the appropriate action. That’s pretty genius, in my opinion.

Here’s a video with just a sampling of what you’ll be able to do with Twine and Pebble:

Welcome to the future, indeed.

You can pre-order a Twine device now for $99, and it ships in June.
