Toshiba’s newest Chromebook is now available to pre-order from Amazon in the UK and US, as well as via the company’s own website.
We had known the device was on its way, but we were expecting it to go on sale on February 16, as was stated when it was announced. However, the model currently listed on Amazon UK at £249 is showing as set for release on February 10.
With 2GB RAM, a 13.3-inch (1366×768 pixel resolution) display, the newer Haswell architecture Intel Celeron processor and a claimed battery life of up to 8.5 hours, it’ll certainly provide some added competition in the Chromebook market, which tends to see most devices hover between the £200-£300 mark. The exception to this is the Chromebook Pixel that still costs in excess of £1000. Whether or not the average everyday consumer is ready to switch to Google’s Chrome OS is yet to be seen.
