Robert Moog was considered by many to be the father of the modern synthesizer. While the Moog synth wasn’t the first ever, it popularized the use of transistors to create wild sound that could be funky or haunting and everything in between.
Now, tomorrow’s (well, today’s if you live in Australia) Google homepage doodle is paying tribute to the 78th birthday of the pioneer with an insanely cool working Moog synthesizer. A full playable keyboard, working mixer, oscillators and filters make this one of the most elaborate doodle’s I’ve seen yet.
But the fun doesn’t stop at just playing it, you can also record your creation using the tape deck to the right and share it via a link or on Google+, that is just wicked cool.
Utilized by hundreds of artists like Kraftwerk, The Beastie Boys, The Beatles, Alicia Keys, Pharell, Portishead and more, the Moog has been a part of your musical life, whether you know it or not.
