TNW at IBC: Telestream discuss how live-streaming is becoming more accessible for everyone

TNW has been live streaming from the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. For broadcasting technology it is one of the biggest events on the calendar where the companies behind the TV, radio and Web streams showcase their wares.

Telestream creates products that make it possible to get video content to any audience no matter how it’s created, captured, distributed or viewed.

The company has a broad suite of products that help video makers and distributors get their material seen. This means desktop components like Flip for Mac which allows Windows Media to play on Apple computers, to cross-platform applications and fully-automated enterprise-class digital media transcoding.

Matching formats

Lynne Elliott, Product Manager and Marketing at Telestream joined us on the LiveU stand for a chat about finding audiences in all places.

Elliott says that video files generally come in one format but often need to be used in other formats. Telestream transcodes files from one format to another so that they can be used on different devices or let people get files from cameras into an editing program and then make sure they are in the right format to be viewed on the Internet or even smart TVs.

Telestream also integrates with LiveU via a product called Wirecast. It enables live streaming and has encoding at its core but also includes a production layer to make live streaming look well produced and professional.

Check out the video below where we chat about how live streaming is becoming much more accessible for everyone from bloggers to mainstream broadcasters.

We have more video interviews coming up that were recorded at IBC, you can find all of our coverage here.
