When you go on a trip abroad for work, there are a few things you need to properly continue your job. Wi-fi at least. But some might also want to meet like-minded people in their industry or have a comfortable desk with office supplies.
Even though most European coffee shops offer fast Wi-fi, every now and then, it’s nice to chill in your pyjamas while catching up on your emails.
That’s why we’re very happy to have partnered with Zoku for the upcoming TNW Conference, and have made them the official home base for conference attendees and speakers.
The traveling professional
The Zoku concept facilitates global living and working for the traveling professional. Situated in Amsterdams’ Eastern canal district, it acts as a hybrid between a home and an office with the services of a hotel, topped with the social buzz of a neighbourhood.
Lofts and bootstrap rooms
Zoku offers four different kinds of rooms. The Zoku Lofts (Loft or Loft XL) are especially designed for those seeking a temporary residence for a couple of days, or even a few months. The lofts combine comfort and efficiency for both work and play with a large kitchen table, an elevated sleeping space that can be screened off for visitors and sliding doors that can conceal the shower. They also offer a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable couch. The Zoku Room has the same look and feel as the loft, but is smaller and lacks the kitchen.
Last but not least, visitors can also choose the Bootstrap room, which was designed with startups in mind; an affordable option for those who only need a place to rest their head, while making optimal use of Zoku’s social areas.
Rent a bike
Every room comes with some office supplies, but if you need more you can ask for the ‘officebox’ which includes supplies like an Apple TV, notebooks, and colored markers.
The people at Zoku offer many different services to make your life easier. In addition to the laundry and dry cleaning offerings, you can rent a bike, (3D) print your latest projects, or rent a flipchart or projector. And if you’re not fond of the art on your wall, you can simply swap the paintings in the art closet down the hall.
Social Areas
In one of the many social areas you can find inspiration or meet other people. You could work at one of the communal working spaces that are open 24/7 (great for recovering from jetlag). You could strum an instrument in the music corner or play Mario Kart in the game room. In terms of food, The Living Kitchen allows you to share a meal with neighbours and locals alike, host small dinner parties and meet others at long, communal tables. The daily-changing menu is based on home-grown vegetables and herbs from Zoku’s rooftop garden.
