Tinder CEO has plans to make the app more transgender-friendly

Tinder CEO has plans to make the app more transgender-friendly

Yesterday, Tinder CEO Sean Rad said he is working to make the site more friendly for non-binary genders that don’t necessarily fit neatly into a male or female box.

For the moment, the app works by pairing either sex (with the same or opposite sex) with a quick swipe left or right on a profile image. Until now, the experience has been relatively difficult for transgender people as non-binary genders options weren’t well-represented within the app.

Rad wants to change all that:

“For a long time we haven’t done enough to give them a good experience,” Rad said at the Code Conference. “It’s harder for them to get what they are looking for. We have to modify our experience to address that.”

While he wasn’t forthcoming about what these transgender-friendly changes might be, Rad did say that they’d hit the social network within “a month or two.”
