Today at its WWDC conference, Apple held the latest Apple Design Award ceremony, showcasing apps which it feels offer the best in iOS and Mac design. Since 1996, developers have been recognized for finding creative uses of Apple’s platforms. This year’s winners include Evernote, Yahoo Weather, Letterpress, Badlands, Finish, Mosaic.io, and others.
Finish
This application focuses on the problem of procrastination and helps solve the issue. It bills itself as a “in your face” app when you need that motivation to complete a task.
Mosaic.io
This photo application connects multiple devices into one display to share photos, files, and more.
Coda 2
An all-in-one code editor for the Web. This app offers developers a mobile editor, terminal, fila management service and more for iOS devices.
Ridiculous Fishing
An iOS application, this game is a tale of a fisherman as he tries to find redemption from his uncertain past.
WWF Together
An iPad app, users can experience the world’s animals right from one app. It is an interactive experience that will help you understand their stories and understand the lives of many animals in the wild.
Evernote 5
Released last November, Evernote 5 gives the digital notebook application a refreshed look, a new left navigation panel, and more. When made available to the public, the app gave users access to more than 100 new features.
Badland
Billed as being an “atmospheric sidescrolling action adventure platformer”, Badland is a game that has found a creative way of using physics to enhance the experience of level design.
Yahoo Weather
This mobile app offers beautiful photos to match the user’s location, time of day, and the current weather conditions. It also includes an interactive radar, satellite, heat, and wind maps, along with sunrise and sunset times.
Letterpress
An addictive game for some, Letterpress is an app that allows players to find words, steal tiles, and color the board.
Procreate
An artistic application, Procreate allows anyone to put together works of art using its aesthetically appealing interface and Silica painting engine.
Sky Gamblers
Another mobile game, Sky Gamblers is an air combat game that lets you test your skills to see if you are the lord of the skies.
In addition to the above winners, Apple also awarded special prizes to students who developed custom apps as part of their scholarship award. This year, the winners were Louis Harboe, Bryan Keller, and Puck Meerburg.
