This week’s most useful social media tools: Part 2

This week’s most useful social media tools: Part 2

Welcome to our weekly look at the new social media tools that are causing a stir around the web.

This year, we’re also including a section called ‘track changes’ which focuses on the major updates and upgrades to existing social media platforms to keep you in the know on that front too.

Sound like something you might be interested in? Good, let’s begin…

This week’s five most useful new social media tools

1. Build an infographic-style resume in  minutes with Kinzaa.com – This is a nice tool to use if you’d like to get your work history to stand out from the crowd.

2. Play your Android apps on PC with BlueStacks.com – Has the world turned upside down? Not quite, but being able to open and use mobile apps in a PC-friendly format is a role-reversal to say the least. BlueStacks gives you the ability to do just that. Worth a look.

3. Turn your pics into Slideshows with SlideMyPics.com – Complete with Facebook integration, this easy-to-use tool is a God-send for those who want to create some code to embed moving picture content across the web.

4. Find out what’s public about you with WhatsPublic.me – After a few tests this didn’t seem entirely robust, but it still is handy if you’d like to see what social media information is linked to a specific username.

5. Stay up to date with news and videos trending on Twitter with TrendPortal.net – Content curators will like this site. Get the jump on content that is trending from the one, easy-to-access location.

This week’s key social media track changes

1. Facebook announced the release of the ‘listen with’ button which will enable users to listen to the same music track simultaneously.

2. Foursquare has launched foursquare.com/explore – a web-based location search engine.

3. Blogger finally enables threaded comments – Blogger does seems to be slow when it comes to enabling functionality you take for granted on other platforms, but it is better late then never hey?

There was also a ‘tiny announcement’ from Google about its on-going quest to fuse social search and recommendations with its existing algorithm – read all about it here.

That’s it for this week; check back next Friday for more!
