This Chrome extension blocks all mentions of Donald Trump

This Chrome extension blocks all mentions of Donald Trump

A Web developer has built a Chrome extension that allows you to block any mention of Donald Trump while you wonder round the Web, reports The Independent.

Trump Filter developed by Rob Spectre searches the Web pages you visit for references to Donald Trump and removes them from the page. However, there are adjustable levels of severity depending how much you loathe the Presidential candidate.

The filter settings are mild, aggressive, and vindictive. Mild blocks Trump’s own Twitter account from reaching your eyeballs, where as the vindictive setting entirely bans news websites that write about him. Spectre explains more about the project.

Trump Filter is presented as part of the antidote for this toxic candidacy. This Chrome extension will identify parts of a web page likely to contain Donald Trump and erase them from the Internet. Share with your friends and eliminate the only currency Trump can spend to win: brand recognition.

Naturally the comments on the chrome web store have been colorful, reflecting the increasingly bitter political lines being drawn ahead of this year’s election.

As a result, Spectre explains on his website that no one asked him to create the extension and is not earning any profits from its release.

“Nor was I put up to this by the Republican or Democratic Parties, the Obama Administration, my mother or any other possible sphere of influence. I am doing this out of a profound sense of annoyance and patriotic duty.”

There have been other Chrome extensions dedicated to the man with a cloud of furry gas living on his head. Trumpweb replaced all mentions of his name with a quote direct from the man himself.

What prompted the backlash from the Web? We think it probably has something to do with Trump demanding the internet be shutdown – and will chat to Bill Gates about fixing that.

Somehow we don’t think the war between Trump and the Web is over.
