Personal development is something everyone strives for in one way or another. Remente is a new app for iOS and Android that aims to help everyone with their development.

Using a combination of brain training and psychology, the aim is to help everyone improve their overall lifestyle, whether it’s mental wellbeing, mindfulness, relationships or stress management.

It starts off by asking you to assess your life. You rate how happy you are on a scale of 1-10 with your relationships, health and fitness, career and education, personal development, family, friends and social life, fun and recreation and finances.

It then creates a graph to show where you’re currently at, asks you to set some goals based on your results and then helps you divide them into manageable steps. The logic behind this is to help people get better at setting realistic targets for themselves.

The app has a massive focus on mental health. Needless to say, depression is rapidly become the biggest burden of disease around the world, so anything that can help is always welcome.

The Mood Tracker function allows you to describe how you’re feeling and learn to spot changes or patterns in your frame of mind and behaviour. Remente wants to help people see their phones as a source of calm, rather than added stress, and offers users a tailored plan to help improve their mental wellbeing based on their mood patterns.

You can also view your history of moods and get statistics on the data to analyze.

In addition, you can also look to the app’s Boosts section for inspiration. It features a bunch of articles like ‘How to really listen’ and ‘Understand your brain,’ covering everything from understanding different kinds stress, to offering practical ways to improve your mental health. Premium users can take that a step further and try out in-app courses on things like leadership and stress management. A premium subscription will set you back $8.99 per month.

The Swedish team behind the app aren’t your average startup crew either. They include Kjell Enhanger, who was a mental trainer to Olympic medal winning athletes; Idriz Zogai, a mental athlete who coached Sweden to win the World Memory Championships; and Nield Eék, an accomplished Ph.D candidate, credited with new discoveries in neuroscience.

While I have tried and tested an abundance of apps intended to help with productivity, mindfulness and wellbeing, Remente appears to be the most equipped to do so. I haven’t been using it for very long but I reckon this one has found a home on my phone.

If you’re the type of person who is striving to improve any aspect of your life – work, love, health – I suggest giving Remente a go.
