It is pretty amazing how mobile phones have taken over the world and it is even more amazing if you see usage numbers put in perspective.
The first (practical) mobile phone was produced by Motorola in 1973, had a battery time of 20 minutes and cost about a million dollar to produce. By 1983 the cost of a mobile phone had dropped to $4000 and by 2003 they were virtually free with a subscription. But even without a subscription you can buy lots of phones below $100 these days.
